Common questions
How is this different from just using ChatGPT?
ChatGPT starts from zero every morning. BOB already knows your clients, your pricing, your processes and your plans, because that context lives in your own vault and is loaded every time. The difference shows up on the second question, not the first.
Can I use Claude Cowork or ChatGPT with BOB?
Yes. You point either of them at the folder where your vault lives — usually a small dropdown under the box where you type your prompt. BOB is plain Markdown and skills on your own disk, so any agent that can read a local folder can work with it. You are not locked into one assistant.
What AI model does BOB use?
Any of them. BOB integrates with your AI coding agent through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) — Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Amp, Goose, and others — so you use whichever model you prefer, on the subscription you already have (or an API key, if that's how you'd rather connect). No separate subscription for BOB.
What happens when the AI models change?
Your context does not change with them. The vault, the data model and the workflows are yours and are engine-independent — when a better model arrives, it reads the same context. That is the point of owning the brain rather than renting the chat.
Do I need to be technical?
You don't need to be a developer. BOB is structured workflows, not software development — you follow a setup guide once, then run business commands in plain language. Setup involves a desktop AI CLI and Obsidian, so expect to follow a few install steps rather than a one-click download.
What do I need to run it?
A desktop computer — Windows (with WSL), macOS, or Linux — plus Obsidian (free, recommended) and an AI coding agent you connect via ACP — Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, and others — using your existing subscription or an API key. You can view and sync your vault on mobile, but the AI workflows run on desktop.
Where does my business data actually live?
In your own files, on your own machine, in plain Markdown you can read without us. There is no platform holding your data hostage, and nothing stops working if you stop paying.
How long before it is actually useful?
The first working deliverable comes out of the first session. The compounding part — where it knows enough about your business to be obviously better than a blank prompt — arrives as you feed it real work, not on a fixed schedule.
